Method
Ingredients:
1 tbsp sunflower oil
2 onions, diced
2 carrots, diced
500g beef mince
1 sachet of Savoury Mince Seasoning Mix
2 tbsp tomato puree
1 tbsp worcestershire sauce
150g frozen peas
Salt and pepper to taste
Mash:
1kg maris piper potatoes, cut into chunks
50g butter, cubed
3 tbsp milk
Pinch of white pepper
Instructions:
Heat a casserole pot over medium heat. Add the oil, onions, carrots, a pinch of salt and pepper
and cook for 5 minutes.
Turn the heat up to high and brown the mince for 5 minutes, breaking the mince down into small
pieces. Add the tomato puree and cook for 2 minutes.
In a jug, combine the savoury mince seasoning mix with 350ml water and pour over the mince
mixture. Add the worcestershire sauce and bring to a simmer. Cook for 25 minutes until the
sauce has reduced and thickened.
Meanwhile, cook the potatoes in a pot of boiling, salted water until tender, 15 minutes.
When the potatoes are cooked, drain and return to the pot and allow to steam dry for a couple
of minutes off the heat.
Preheat the oven to 200C fan.
Mash the potatoes well and then fold in the butter, milk and season with salt and white pepper.
